I will dominate 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the combatants met personally to build hype for next month's bout.

Ex twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Fighter's Attitude

"I plan to break his face and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm superior," Joshua, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a calm Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British opponent Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought MMA fighters or faded names since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's greatest money-making draws, frequently receiving massive earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28-year-old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters participated in the customary confrontation, with their physical disparity evident, it drove home just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is truly happening.
